Chekhov Cover Text

I've been experimenting this afternoon with ink and various tools to try and create some appropriate type for the cover of my Chekhov book (still not finished aaaah) as I have a major struggle with type this is probably a good idea for me to do but I still have no way of telling what is good and what isn't and I think that could be a major downfall. Anyway here are the screen shots:

Chekhov Experimentation

I need to resolve my Chekhov project by next week so yesterday I started to experiment on Photoshop with some of the images to try and whittle down my work to 10 final images. I think I'm going to make some kind of book to go alongside the animation so I've also been playing around with layouts for simple concertina books. John Walsh showed me a few tricks to use with inverting the colours and layers etc and I tried them out yesterday:


I also completed the first half of the animation successfully, yesss! It looks really nice because of the old-fashioned quality of the stop-frame and I think I've done a good job of adapting the drawings into moving image. I still have to plan and film the second half but it's not quite as fiddly as the first so hopefully it shouldn't take too long.

Today's Work

I feel like I've been working none stop today from 9 trying to get as many Chekhov pages done as possible, I'm pleased with the results though but I need to do half a sketchbook tomorrow! It can be done though.

Chekhov Update

I started on my second sketchbook for the Chekhov project today, I'm concentrating on some new scenes in the story which involve more people and interiors so that's a bit more of a challenge but I'm slowly getting some pages done. The book is a bit more difficult to work with than the first as the pages just disintegrate really easily. I've been looking at Charles Keeping a lot while I've been doing these pages and borrowing a few techniques from some of his beautiful work.
